Hello, December

It's been a nice, quiet week.  I haven't jumped into holiday mode yet, except for some Christmas shopping. The house is still decorated with pumpkins, turkeys and fall candles. I am enjoying this 'in between' time.

Here are some simple moments that blessed me this week:

*  Yesterday, I attended a seminar for work. I drove for about thirty miles east of where I live. It was a gorgeous day, the sky was so blue and clear, the sun shining.  I looked in the rear view mirror and the view of the snow-covered Rockies was just stunning.  One of my favorite parts of living in Colorado is having both mountains and prairie, and the views each provide.

*  At the seminar, I got to meet two women who I 'work with' all the time on the phone, but this was the first time we met in person.  Both are so lovely, so dedicated. I'm grateful for what they do for our clients.

*  I 'discovered' a book on my bookcase that I bought last summer and completely forgot about! Letters from Paris by Juliet Blackwell. I read it in just a couple of days, and I'm excited to read the next one by this author.

*  I have been dipping into some Hallmark Christmas movies in the evenings. I record them and fast forward through commercials. The stories are so predictable, but I love the big city decorations, the music, and there's always snow at just the right moments.

*   The Sonos wireless music system that we bought about a year ago has become one of my most favorite things. It was something Dan had looked into and I thought it would be nice for him to have it because he's the 'music person' of the two of us. I find I actually use it more, probably because I'm home more. We have speakers in three parts of the house, and I can turn on any one (or all) of them with my cell phone, and play my own playlists or radio stations.  Last night we watched the Pentatonix Christmas special, and I'm going to add a couple of their songs to our Christmas playlist.

Such a good week all around. Happy Friday to all.

Linking up to Friday's Fave Five.

How fun to meet up with folks you've previously "met" on the phone.
I LOVE the CO views, too. You are certainly spoiled in that way.
I checked my library an we have "Letters From Paris" but only in the audio version. I went ahead and checked it out. It will be mu next walking audio. Thanks for the suggestion.
I LOVE Christmas movies. I know they are sappy and predictable, but they do have positives as you pointed out.
Have a blessed week.

A lovely week! And with beautiful views! So nice when a person in real life matches up with or is even better than their on-the-phone persona. I had not heard of that wireless system, but that sounds so nice! We watched the Pentatonix special, too. I have a few of their songs on my Christmas playlist.

I envy you your CO views - someday I'll go there. I love mountains although I'm glad to live on my little Island.

I haven't started my Christmas decorating yet either. According to the blog world I'm way behind :)

Do you have a Kobo or Kindle? I like to read books from the Online Library. They have most older books and quite a few new ones. I just read Snow Child. A little bit of language but a sweet story.

Happy weekend Karen!

This was such an enjoyable post, Karen. The view of your snow covered mountains must be magical! Isn't it fun to meet someone you have talked to by phone....hardly ever did they look like I thought they would!
Thanks for the mention of the book you enjoyed. I'll jot that down. This is a great time of the year to enjoy pretty music.
I wish you a very nice weekend.

What a pleasure to have such a beautiful drive where you live. It's a little. . . "scrubby". . . .here. We would love to visit Colorado sometime!

I enjoy the Hallmark Christmas movies for the same reason...the snow is never slushy! I think your music system sounds wonderful. I wish we had something like that.

I didn't post my FFF last week but wanted to pop over and be encouraged by yours. Driving through the Rockies is a wonderful experience--we've done it a few times. I imagine living there it never gets old.

My daughter used to live in the Colorado Springs area and one year she had surgery. He place of employment paid my way to fly out to be with her. I had to stare at the mountains. When I walked out of Walmart, I felt like I could reach out and touch them. They are HUGE! I really enjoyed my time out there.

Your Sonos Wireless Music System sounds wonderful! To have a speaker in several rooms would be so awesome.

We record the Hallmark movies also. Now my husband will not watch a movie unless it is recorded because he doesn't want to waste time watching the commercials. Sometimes we get the gist of the movie, since we know how it is going to turn out, we move on to something else.

I enjoyed your Friday Five Favorites. Thanks for sharing.

Love Christmas music!
We have a cable channel that plays it through the
season and three radio stations here also play
it so I get my fix easily.
We haven't done a lot of decorating yet either--
see my current post for the whys.
