Books, blooms and birthday cakes

This has been a week filled with favorites and blessings, but I'll try to narrow it down to just five.

1.  I wrote about this back here, but the best part of my week was getting to celebrate my birthday with my grandkids in Wisconsin on Sunday, then flying home on Monday and seeing the two here in Colorado.  The two older ones are at the age where birthday cakes mean the celebration is all for them! because they get to help blow out the candles.  I love the pure joy that children have for parties.

2.  When we were in Wisconsin I saw some cardinals, which is such a treat because we don't have them in Colorado. They are so beautiful and I tried to get a picture of one, but he flew away too quickly.

3.  On the flights to and from, I had a couple of hours to read and listen to music -- the positive part of an activity that I'm not too thrilled about!

4.  New rosebushes! I won't be able to plant for a couple of weeks, but I'm excited to get them in the ground and enjoy the new colors and fragrances.

5.  I'm a sucker for office supply stores. Today, I went to buy ink and couldn't resist this cute clipboard that was on sale for just a few dollars. At this time of year especially, it's hard to resist anything floral!

Loving the Spring weather we're having. (We'll just ignore the 3 to 6 inches of snow predicted for tomorrow!)

What are your favorites from the week? Check in with Friday Fave Five, or share below in the comments.

Hi Karen, Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog this afternoon. You made my day!
These roses are so gorgeous! We did not plant roses at this house (we moved here last July). One of my all time favorite roses that we "inherited" from a previous owner at another home was a long stem Yellow rose. It would bloom right up until Thanksgiving!
This clipboard is so cute. I often see very pretty floral file folders, too.
You are very blessed to share your birthday with your grandchildren. We do not have children/grands but we do get the biggest kick out of our 6 yr old neighbor girl. I have nieces and even great nieces, but they live far away. I do love children.
Oh, I hope they are wrong about SNOW for you.
May the Lord bless your weekend.

I hope the snow passes you by! I can't imagine it this time of year, but I hear about other people still getting it. Lovely roses! Belated happy birthday! Glad you got to celebrate with your grandkids. Mine gets so excited over presents, anybody's presents. That clipboard is gorgeous. I don't like travel, either, but I do like the reading time it provides.

I'm so glad you were able to spend your birthday with your sweet grandchildren. Made for an extra-special birthday, I'm sure.

It's great that you were able to read on the airplane. I wish I could do that, but I'm one of those easily distracted types. All the walking back and forth in the aisles and the getting stuff out of overhead bins is a total distraction to me. I CAN listen to music, though, so that is what I do.

We have had a cool, wet spring. We had a skiff of snow in mid-April (the 14th, I think). I guess that is what comes with living in these mountain states, huh?

What a gorgeous clipboard! I would have scarfed that up as well.

Blessings on your day,

SNOW???!!! yikes. hopefully it will pass you by! I hiked 2 mountains today and a pond trail and at the top of the first mountain we could see across the area to one of our ski mountains where there is still snow....(the higher elevations of the NYS Adirondacks often still has snow into June).

Happy belated birthday and i love that clipboard!! perfect for Spring!!

enjoy the weekend!

What do you think of this crazy
weather? For the longest time we could
not get a drop of rain and now we have had rain for
THREE days!! I know that snow had hit Colorado.
Did you guys get a lot? Wowzer!!

Karen, your roses are gorgeous! Such a green thumb you have! I'm so glad that you were able to be with your grands in Wisconsin for your birthday, as well as the ones there in CO!

Did you end up getting that snow that was predicted?

Happy Birthday to you! What a great way to spend your birthday--with grandkids!
I am still out visiting east of where you were...flying home tomorrow. I'm not a fan of the flying, either... I'm glad you had a good distraction.
Love those roses!
Have a great week!
