My favorites this week

Today is the start of a four-day weekend for Dan, so there's a favorite right there. Link up with Friday Fave Five if you'd like to join the group and share the best parts of your week.

1. Dan was out of town for much of the week, and even though I do.not.like sleeping in an empty house, I enjoyed the solitude that the time provided.  I caught up watching some recorded shows, started a new book and worked through most of my to-do list.

2.  Brooklynn was here on Monday and we took a trip to Walmart and bought a pool and bathing suit. She didn't really need the suit because she spent most of the time finding rocks and putting them in the pool. Can you stand this cuteness?? Haha!

3.  Facetime has been a gift for keeping in touch with the Wisconsin contingency.  It's not the same as being there in person, but I love that I can talk to my grandkids every day and we can see each other.

4.  Last weekend, I went to a bridal shower for my nephew's fiancee. It was a champagne brunch, and the food and decorating were so beautifully done.  It was lovely getting to know the bride-to-be a little more and meeting her family.

5.  The staff at work is growing by leaps and bounds.  When I started working there three years ago, I worked for two therapists.  Now, there are eight!  I enjoy my job and all the people I work with, and the flexibility that I have in my hours.

How was your week?  Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends! And happy Independence Day to those in the USA!

What a cutie pie! And I love the pool.
Having the solitude that comes with being home alone is a good thing for us now and then. I must confess that as much as I love being alone, I'm not crazy about it late at night. I hear a million sounds that I've never heard before as I try to doze off. I'm a big chicken!

Your granddaughter is just so stinkin' cute!!

Yay for some solitude and getting caught up on things. I started a new book this week too and must rest today as I'm dealing with some leg and back issues. I'll take your idea and get caught up on movies, etc.

Happy Independence Day!!

I love times of solitude, but I rarely ever get them... I thought having an empty nest insured having them, but I guess not.

Oh, your little granddaughter is adorable in that suit and in that pool! Enjoy your time with her, and yes, thank the Lord for Facetime for those loved ones who are away. That's definitely a plus in living in this technology-based culture.

Your granddaughter is so cute! My husband uses to travel a lot, and I never did like being alone in the house overnight, but I did come to enjoy times of solitude.

I love FaceTime. When I was newly married, we could only afford to call my mom long distance once a month. I'm so glad we have access to our loved ones any time now!

Hello. I enjoyed reading about your favorites for the past week! Have a Happy 4th of July! I notice that you are from Colorado. I live in Arizona now, but was born and raised mostly in the Denver area, so I love Colorado!

Yes, Brooklynn is such a cutie pie! Love that little expression on her face...and that cute swim suit.

Yes, Facetime and Skype are wonderful ways of keeping in touch. I have a friend whose daughter had a baby while my friend was living overseas. For 2 years, they skyped daily, and when my friend finally got to meet the baby face-to-face, there was no stranger anxiety at all. Because they had Skyped daily, the little girl knew her. So, while it's not nearly as good as being "in the flesh" with someone, it's still a great way to keep in touch.

Love and hugs,
Patti

Such cuteness! I just love those chubby thighs in a bathing suit. If only it looked as cute at 50!
Enjoy the 4th!

I'm thankful for FaceTime too, Karen! It helps so much to see their faces and watch them running around in their playroom. And maybe they won't forget about their Mimi in the long months between visits.

Your Brooklynn is a charmer! I love her swimsuit. Leave it to a child to figure out something else to do with a toy.

Have a great Fourth, Karen!

Love the pool pics. Such fun they have with those little blow up pools. I totally know what you mean about not liking sleeping alone in an empty house but on the other hand enjoying a few days of solitude. Happy 4th of July!

Oh my goodness Karen, she is soooo cute!!!! My husband has worked the night shift on and off for the past 30 years and I still don't sleep well when he is not here. ( however I do love having the entire bed and remote control all to myself ~ and the dogs)
Skype has been my best friend for the past few weeks. My oldest daughter moved to Switzerland for the summer and we Skype a few times a week. She struggles very bad will chronic Lyme disease so it's nice to be able to see her face, I can see if she's struggling or feeling well.
Have a great weekend. stay safe.

It's nice to be alone from time to time. A little break is good for the couple. Baby in the bath is so cute ! Our weather is far too cold to play in the garden !
