Snow, grandkids and more blessings

It's been a couple of weeks since I've participated in Friday's Fave Five.  As always, it's so nice to reflect back on the week and be intentional about remember blessings, large and small.

1.  The first snow of the season.  Mother Nature wasn't shy.  No light dusting here, but instead a half foot of heavy wet snow that piled up on fence rails and turned the bird bath into a pedestal bearing a lovely cake made of snow.

2.  Arriving home on Monday afternoon and having the kids and grandkids come over for pizza.  Such a huge treat to see those baby girls!

3.  Having a few hours to work at my desk yesterday.  There's an enormous satisfaction in seeing the piles dwindle.  Bills paid, cards written, lists checked off.

4.  Last weekend, when we were in New Orleans, we visited the National World War II Museum. After seeing and hearing the stories of so many of the men who served, Veterans Day felt more poignant than ever this year.  I'm thankful for our veterans and those who have shared their stories.

5.  Seeing the WWII museum was a profound experience. As I've read the headlines this week of the horrors that continue throughout the world, the men and women in our military -- and those of our allies -- have been heavy on my heart.  I'm so thankful for each and every one of them, and their families who sacrifice for our country.

Friday Fave Five is hosted each week by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story

Your snow sounds lovely, but I am thankful we haven't had any yet. :-)

Love the family pizza night, and getting desk work done and lists crossed off is such a pleasure.

The WWII museum sounds like a great place to visit. I am drawn to reading about that era often. I am thankful as well for those who serve our country in this way as well as their families.

A great collection of favourites this week! I think my fave of your faves is the grandchildren visit - of course!! That's always a sweet event.

And very satisfying to get all that paperwork done as well.

I had the same feelings of gratitude this week for our veterans.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I love when piles dwindle and lists are checked off, too.

Pizza with the grands - nothing better.

We are indeed blessed in this part of the world with the safety garnered by our military. I'm so thankful for their sacrifices.

Why does paperwork always tend to pile. I need to get to work on clearing some of my own! Pizza night and having the grandbabies over sounds like heaven. I don't mind the first snowfall at all. I think I would miss the distinct differences of season if I lived in a steady climate all year. The visit to the Museum sounds like it was very meaningful. It is good to realize everything that someone sacrifices in order for us to be in a good place!

SNow?! Wow! That's early and a lot.
The museum is on my list of places to visit. I visited the British War Museum in London a few years ago and there was an exhibit on the Holocaust. It was sobering, to say the least.
My heart, too, is so heavy from the evil.
Love the cleaned off desk!

Like you, my heart is with our friends in Paris - living in NY, it makes me very sympathetic to those living in the wake of terror attacks.
Ah, snow! I bet it looks beautiful but I'm not quite ready for it yet. I'm still having visions of the long, snowy winter we had last year.
How lovely to remember all the things you're grateful for every week. We are blessed in so many ways.
