A Daybook

"Every day is a blank page."

FOR TODAY, September 8, 2015

Outside my window . . . blue, cloudless sky. My view is of our street, which is a main road to the local high school, so it's busy this time of day. The daisies in the front yard are in full bloom, the roses look good. It's also trash pick up day, as evidenced by all the garbage cans at the curb.  Just keepin' it real.

I am listening to . . . James Taylor radio on Pandora.

I am thinking . . .I'm going to write this post in 10 minutes and then go for a walk with my friend Joan!

I am thankful . . .for a wonderful weekend with family.  We went to my dad's on Sunday and yesterday we had an impromptu barbeque with two of my kids and their families.

In the kitchen . . .lemon cucumbers and cherry tomatoes galore!

I am wearing . . .shorts, tank, sneakers.

I am creating . . .order from chaos.  Finally unpacking some boxes in the basement and finding lots of treasures! Now, where to put everything?

I am going . . .

I am wondering . . .what name my son and daughter-in-law will choose for their baby boy, due in December? It was the topic of conversation over the weekend. They are wondering, too!

I am reading . . .Song of the Lark, by Willa Cather

I am looking forward to . . .getting my sewing machine back. It's in for cleaning and tune-up.  I have so many projects ready to go!

I am learning . . .lots of things, watching PBS these last two nights.  Ken Burns' re-run of The Civil War, for one.

Around the house . . . In a kinda-fall-cleaning mode.

I am pondering . . .how I let myself fill up my week to the brim.  Why do I do that??

A favorite quote for today . . ."When in doubt, just take the next small step."

Some of my favorite things . . .James Taylor songs, cheeseburgers, the way my granddaughter Siefer calls our dog "Lillian."  It just makes me laugh, because her name is Lilly, but I call her Lillian as a term of endearment.  Siefer has picked up on that.

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . take a package to the post office, make appointments with eye doctor and dentist, scan some photos, (I'm reading my to-do list), watch Brooklynn, brunch with friends this weekend.

A peek into my day . . .
wine and books! Two more favorite things.

All of it sounds fabulous!
I am not reading anything
right now, after my 50 book
challenge this summer I am
a bit weary of reading. But
I'll pick it back up soon.

M : )

You always give us such a rewarding look into your life. I'm so glad there were so many pleasant days and that you have the mind, heart and soul to appreciate them.

I remember reading through Willa Cather in my 20s and loving her. And she had a book of short stories, didn't she? Really good ones, if I remember. I must revisit her.

A December birth, that will be a wonderful gift to your family!

I'm in fall cleaning mode too. Works great with our city's Recycle Rendezvous where you can put things to the curb all weekend for people to help themselves to for free. Unfortunately hubby is not too happy that I'm poking around in his stuff. Ha!
