Monday musings

I was surprised to wake up to cloudy skies this morning. It's been a weird summer that way. It seems like summer just can't get off and running this year. I hear the same thing from friends all over the country, that it's been especially wet and rainy. We haven't had as much time on the back porch this year, mostly because we haven't had the motivation or the foresight to put the chair cushions away when rain is expected, so when the rain does stop and it's nice and cool, we don't have dry places to sit. As my son likes to say, "First world problem, Mom." I know, it's not a big deal, but a wet butt is annoying just the same.
Yesterday, I stalked the garden center at Walmart and picked up some bedraggled black-eyed Susan's to fill in a few empty spots in the garden. If my garden next year takes off the way I see it in my mind's eye, it's going to be gorgeous!
Happy Monday, to one and all.

"First World problems" Yes, that does apply to so many of our complaints, doesn't it?

But I agree! A wet butt is not a fun happening! ,-)

Here, we had our rain, rain, rain. Followed by blazing heat/humidity. Now hopefully, becoming purrrrrrfect August weather. ,-) Cool mornings and nights, and sun and breeze during the day.

We live in a tourist area, so it is good for the local economy, for us to have purrrrrrfect Aug. weather. -smile-

Wishing you a week, with some whimsey and magic, thrown in,

Hi Karen ~ we have a nice patio area on the side of our house, but we can only enjoy it in the spring and late fall, as the mosquitoes are insane here in the summer. We've also gotten lazy about putting away the furniture cushions when it rains. We feel like "why bother?" anymore. Oh well, like your son said, first world problems. ;-)Hope you have a good week!

Your son is right, but who wants a wet but? :)
Bob planted a bunch of black eyed susans last year and we are so enjoying them this year!

We have had so much rain, we are 18 inches over normal for this time of year. My car almost flooded today on the way to work.

We've taken to removing the cushions every evening and then just taking them out as we need them. I love being in our tiny little courtyard, but some days it's just too darn hot to venture out there. And as much as I love autumn, I hate to see summer come to an end - heat, humidity and all!

Gorgeous photo of the Black-eyed Susan, Karen! I just love the cheery yellow color.

I'm sure I'd forget about removing the cushions before rain, too. I don't have any, but still, I know I would ...

I love black-eyed Susans! Such a happy flower! I've wanted to buy cushions so often but I know that I would be forgetting them all the time! Though we've been in a bit of heat wave here and could do with a bit of rain.
