Friday Favorites

This week went by so fast.  Happy to slow down and join in with Susanne and the crew for Friday's Fave Five.  Here's a look at the good stuff that happened this week.

1.  I read a really good book.  Joy to the World; How Christ's Coming Changed Everything (And Still Does), by Scott Hahn. I'm a little out of season, yes. But so often, despite my best intentions, I just can't seem to slow down enough to read this stuff during the holidays.  I love Scott Hahn's books, and this one was no exception. I'll have to do a more thorough post about it at some point.

2.  The tomatoes are ripening. And edible. This is huge for me. I've never had luck with growing my own tomatoes.  Ever.

3. This egg cooker.  They sell them at Kohl's, but mine was a QVC find by my aunt, who is super duper at finding good stuff on QVC. And sharing it with me! (xoxo, Auntie Ann).  I love this thing.  On Mondays, I cook six hard boiled eggs, and they are in the fridge at the ready for the rest of the week.  When I want to make deviled eggs, the eggs are ready in minutes. And they are perfect hardboiled eggs. You can also make scrambled eggs and soft boiled eggs.

4.  Supper on the porch Monday night.  It was nice and cool, we cooked burgers on the grill and I made a tomato pie with some deli potato salad.  Ice cream for dessert.  So simple, but it was a feast when shared with our kids and grandkids.

5. In anticipation, my next fave is lunch today with Auntie Ann and my dear friend, Renee.  We are going to the Boulder Pearl Street mall and shopping is sure to be on the agenda for the afternoon.

What are your faves from the week?  Do share!

My fav of this week....

That our middle son had (emergency) heart artery stent surgery on Wednesday, and is fine.

He has only recently been doctoring for heart. It was just discovered that he had 100% hard blockage of main artery. Plus 3 others needing stents. Doc did 3 and he will go back for the 4th, next week. Because doc felt he/son had enough (toxic) dye used, that day.

Can beat my FAV, for this week!!!!!! :-))))

Thank you for asking...

Tessa

I'm in agreement with Susan - the egg cooker recipe looks awesome, and will you share your tomato pie recipe?

Kudos to you on growing tomatoes. I have never been able to grow them either.

I'll have to get an egg cooker. I boil eggs to keep for my husband to have for breakfast but sometimes they don't peel very easily, maybe because we have our own hens and the eggs are so fresh? Do the eggs cooked in this cooker peel easily?

Oh your bbq meal sounds delicious! I will have to look for that egg cooker. Love hard boiled eggs but always have trouble getting them just right or peeling them. I don't have luck with tomatoes either, probably because I grow them in containers. I can however grow cherry tomatoes so that is what I stick to. We love them and snitch a few here and there all day long!

My fav was last night - our little Ruby is no longer scared of us and stayed overnight with no tears. :)
That egg cooker is cool. I boil eggs all the time! The only downside is storing anther thing.

What a cute little egg cooker. It looks like some kind of a cartoon character.

I love that egg cooker! And thanks so much for the tomato pie recipe. I will definitely be giving that a try. I make tomato sandwiches every Sunday this time of year and that would be a delicious change.

That egg cooker sounds wonderful. I always have trouble getting hard boiled eggs just right no matter what instructions I follow. Your supper on the porch sounds great.

Since I don't eat eggs, I guess I'd have to have a tofu cooker :) But what a great find by Auntie Ann. I hope your lunch with her was fun.
Congrats on the ripe tomatoes!
