Friday Favorites

It's good to pick up with the Friday Fave Five gang, and to look back at my week and be intentional about looking for the good things in life.

Here they are:

1. Something I take for granted in the summer, but at long last we are having a string days with blue skies.  Can you tell I'm excited?  With all the rain we've had, our lawn and gardens are lush and green, and when I look out my window I see a world rich in color.

2. I just finished a really good book. It's by Beth Hoffman and the title is Looking for Me.

3.  After several weeks of digging out gardens and preparing the soil, we have everything planted in the ground.  What a job!  Thankful for my son who helped us with all the digging, thankful to have rosebushes growing in our yard and a beautiful perennial garden.

4.  Part of our DIY landscaping project was to have a sprinkler system installed in the front yard.  We're still working on a plan for the backyard, but man oh man will it be nice to not have to drag a hose around in the front this summer.  On a positive note, it's so satisfying to put this yard together ourselves.  This is our second summer in this house and the work we did last year is really beginning to show.

5.  My water aerobics class is meeting outside for the summer. (Insert smiley sun face here).  Splashing in the pool is a great way to start the day.

Happy summer and happy weekend to all!

Some lovely favourites Karen! I've been taking a Pilates class and we've met outside a few weeks - it really is nice.

Our neighbour has a pool - perhaps I should get her to start an aerobics class :)

I'm going to look up that title - I always enjoy new book recommendations - thanks!

Happy weekend!

We're just about to have several stormy days, if the weather forecasts are accurate. I love not having to water plants, but I do look forward to the sunshine returning.

Your sprinkler system sounds really nice! And it's great to have the planting done.

It's nice to look out and enjoy all the hard work that was put in the year before! I'm sure you'll love the sprinkler system. Must look for that book!

We *so* need to work in the flower beds here. The landscaper did what all of them here do, just fill the beds with field dirt, some discarded trash, nails, etc and then throw in a few foundation shrubs and cover it all with pine straw. We had to get them back out to replace 5 of the plants they planted last fall that have already died. The beds need a LOT of work before I can plant anything and try to get to grow with my black thumb :) I am so very grateful that we had an irrigation system installed before they put the sod in though. After 20+ years of dragging around water hoses and sprinklers at the old house, I'm so grateful that we have a system that does that for me :) Enjoy!!!
