Recycled vintage

I was poking around on Pinterest the other day, and came across some ideas for repurposing vintage jewelry.  (If you go there and search "vintage watch bracelets" there are some really fun ideas that pop up.)

I got to thinking about some pieces I have that are meaningful to me, but I rarely, if ever, wear.  So, this is what I came up with.  This was my grandmother's wrist watch, given to her by my father when he was on leave from the service, back in the 50s.  I took the band off and put it on a chain.  The little tassel was picked up at Hobby Lobby.  Amazingly the watch still keeps time!

I saved the band, in case someday one of my nieces might like to have the watch in its original form.

I love it! I actually have my grandma's watch made into a pedant too. I don't wear it often because it's gold and I tend to wear sliver, but it's a treasure to me.

Ooh, I'm so glad you posted about this! I love it :) I have an old watch of my mom's and would not wear it as is, number one, it's tiny and my old eyes can't see the dial, LOL! But this is a great idea to still use it. Now, I need more ideas for old 50's and 60's costume jewelry, she had a jewelry box full of it! LOL!

Thanks for sharing, have to file this one away and remember! :)
