A Daybook and A Photo

FOR TODAY, February 11, 2013

Outside My Window... Clear, but very cold.  This morning, there were ice crystals dancing in the air, but the sun was out, so it looked like glitter.  Very pretty.

I am thinking...about all the changes going on in our household.

From the kitchen...Chicken pot pie.

I am creating... Covers for the arms of the sofa and loveseat in the living room.  They have become threadbare, so I'm using the coordinating pillows to make some covers.  We'll see how it looks.  I just need to get some more mileage out of that furniture.

I am going... to mail some Valentines today.

I am reading...The Snow Child, by Eowyn Ivey.

I am hoping...that both of my boys make it home in time for supper, because they are going to love this pot pie!

I am thankful . . . for long phone conversations with my friend Pamela, while sipping coffee and looking at the view out my front window.

I am hearing... Keith Urban on Pandora.

Around the house...I am doing a major purge! and have made a couple of trips to Goodwill.

Some of my favorite things...iced tea with real lemon, homemade Valentines, Lilly's silky soft ears.

A few plans for the rest of the week...Son #1 is moving on Saturday, Dan and I are taking a quick trip to Kansas City at the end of the week, and I hope to have most of my 'purging' done.

Here's a photo for the Gratitude Photo Challenge.  Today's subject is "Something Old".  This doll belonged to my great-grandmother.  It was given to her as a gift in about 1884.  The dress the doll is wearing has a long, sweeping train.  The blue outfit is a riding outfit. I'm grateful for family heirlooms that let me catch a glimpse into the past.
