One of my favorite things

I'm linking up with Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage this morning, to join in on her weekly post sharing favorite things.

This is one of my favorite things, that I wear almost daily.  It's a ring that belonged to my grandmother, that her father gave her when she was a young woman.  The carnelian stone in the center is surrounded by seed pearls.  My favorite part of the ring is the delicate design on the sides -- if you click on the picture you might be able to see it better.

Wearing this ring makes me feel close to my grandmother, and to my aunt -- one of my favorite people in the world -- who wore it often, before she passed it on to me.

It's a lovely ring. When my Aunt Dot and Uncle Ed married, they didn't have enough money so he bought her a faux diamond ring. When they finally had enough money, he had one made exactly the same but with real diamonds. Though she had two daughters, she always treated me as if I was one of hers, too. She gave me the faux ring and after she died, I wore it often, and was devastated when I lost it. I may not have the ring, but I have all the memories of my wonderful aunt. Have a great day! Tammy

Aren't you lucky to have something left behind that is so special to you! For me, it's the quilts my grandmother made that I am very fortunate to have.

Hi Karen, that ring is just beautiful, was it Grandma Masterson's? I'm back to blogging as of today, hoping to be able to stay with it - I've missed visiting with everyone and keeping up with things. Hope all is well, we are all well after the storm that hit New Jersey, no power for a week but no damage to our home. xxoo

Hi, I loved reading this post - it's a great idea. Do you write this every Monday? It's like a gratitude journal - and reading back on your past favorite things posts must be so rewarding. Raining here today, going to pay taxes and hopefully meet up with a friend later today. xxoo
