Monday, Monday

FOR TODAY, September 10, 2012

Outside my window...The street I live on is lively with kids walking to school, neighbors chatting and occasionally a car passing by.  The air is cool and the tree outside my window is beginning to turn color.  I love September.

I am thinking...about my long time friend who is celebrating a birthday today.  I think I'll surprise her with a phone call. . . we haven't acknowledged each other's birthdays in years, but I always think of her on this day.

I am thankful...that my husband has found a job that allows him to be home most of the time.  That  my days allow me to start out slowly with a second cup of coffee, time to write, and time to take in the beauty of the morning.

In the kitchen...menu plan for the week includes Shrimp Scampi, Thai Peanut Pork in the crockpot, and lasagna rolls (I'll make a bunch and freeze some).

I am wearing...work out clothes with Crocs.  Very attractive.

I am creating...a guest bedroom.  Painting furniture borrowed from other rooms in the house, dug through my box of linens for curtains and bedding, and framing some favorite photos.

I am going...to the dentist today:(

I am reading...The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I am looking forward to...a trip to see my sister-in-law this weekend.

Around the house...good grief, we are moving furniture again.  #1 Son is moving in with us for a month.  We cleared out a big area in the basement for his 'stuff'.

I am pondering...how God's plans are always so different from our own.

A favorite quote for today...
"I merely took the energy it took to pout, and wrote some blues."
Duke Ellington

One of my favorite things...writing letters.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  prepare for my trip. Finish the guest room.  Paint some other pieces while I'm at it.

A peek into my day...
when out of ideas, just put in a picture of the dogs...heaven knows, I have enough of them (pictures and dogs).  George will be staying with us for a month, too.  My yard will never look the same with a Springer Spaniel and a greyhound.  Abby (our sweet shepherd mix) looks at me as if to say, "Really?? Are ya nuts?"

I am linking up with The Simple Woman's Daybook.

Lasagna rolls ... that sounds delicious. I might work that into my menu next week. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love changing rooms around. I'm sure your new guest room will look great.

How nice that the dogs all posed for you.
God knows the plans he has for us....sometimes its a surprise and an adjustment as you will be making with your son moving in.....although I love my daughter dearly, I'm thankful when she went through her divorce in 2011, she stayed in the house with her spouse until the divorce was final and she could move into a new house for herself. We would have welcomed her but it would have been an adjustment for us all....
We have to learn not to get to used to things the way they are because that's when they change.........go with the flow.

Hello, there! Your menu sounds lovely! And The Book Thief is one of my most favorite books. The audio version of it is great, too. Found your post via Simple Woman and am visiting the post before and after mine and (ahem) the post numbered with my age (ack! That would be yours at #43!)Good to find you out here in Blog Land. Have a blessed day - B.
