For a refresher, here's the kitchen "before" (actually, the photo is from the brochure when we bought the house. My kitchen would NEVER be that tidy!)
And here's the "after". . .
Except on this wall, both upper and lower are white. I don't know why it appeals to me, not having everything 'match,' but I do like it.
This is my favorite part. The island used to have two cabinet doors on the lower part and it was SO hard to keep organized and hard to find things. Dan replaced them with four large drawers on the bottom. He made them big enough that I can keep pot lids, and mixing bowls, and baking supplies. I love it!
Yes, I tidied up the counter. Try as I might, I'm just not a neat freak! Wish I was!
This is the part that I finally finished today. Painted the open cabinet on the right ... a country red. And put the door on on the far left. It holds glassware and I thought it would be neat to leave it open or put a door on with a glass insert. But, it was too hard to keep it neat enough to display. The door next to it is done in chalkboard paint. I cleaned it up for the picture. It is usually covered in notes. It gets a lot of use, but not "pretty" like menus and fancy writing. Just notes like "give the dogs heart worm pills" and "Luke, pick up your socks!" We're not very fancy around here.
The kitchen table -- there's a bench under the window, so we just pull the table out for more seating when there will be more than three of us. The table tends to move in and out a lot!
So, that's it! Through the window, you can see a glimpse of the back porch, which is VERY close to being done. More to come on that project!

I love it! Such pretty, inviting colors. Well done!
I love it! I'm all for drawers too, and the pot rack is so homey looking and convenient too!
Karen it is just lovely, a perfect place for the family to be congregated in. Happy Mother's Day to you, hope you are appropriately adored.

It looks so pretty and cheerful. I like the way it looks like "home" in your pictures-before looks too sterile.♥♫
Karen, it looks beautiful! I love the drawers in the island. I'd love to know just how that was done. Something I'd really like to do to my island. And I love the yellow on the lower cabinets - so soft and homey looking.
I bet YOU are enjoying your 'new' kitchen, I know I would!
Happy Mother's Day.
