Friday Favorites

One of the best parts of the week is writing my Friday Favorites post.  Looking back over the the week and mining for the good stuff, the gold nuggets, the grace points.

1.  The used book store in town.  The young woman who owns it is just a delight.  She always has a pot of coffee going and a plate of cookies.  It's a small shop, but she's managed to squeeze in a couple of overstuffed chairs.  There are always one or two other shoppers in there, browsing the shelves in companionable silence.  It's become one of my favorite haunts.

2.  Our Keurig coffee maker.  I love it.  Some mornings I wake up, and it's the first thing I think of, enjoying a cup of rich, flavorful coffee, while enjoying the early morning on the back porch.  It's what gets me out of bed, as I'm not a morning person.

3.  My husband.  Always.  After 27 years, he still makes me laugh, makes me swoon and I love 'im.

4.  September.  The sky is bluer, the air is clearer, it's such a welcome change after the long, hot summer months.  I love the anticipation of fall and the new beginnings.  September has always been my "new year."

5.  Sending a care package to The Middle Child.  I remember how much it meant to get mail when I was in college.  Even though it's easier to communicate these days with texts and phone calls, nothing says "i love you" like a package in the mail!

I hope you all found lots of blessings in your week!  I'm linking up with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

I love browsing the used books stores. You never know what gem will turn up for a decent price.

I love September too though I don't love the wasps that come with it around here.

It sounds like you and your hubby have such a great, loving relationship! What a blessing!

I still like to send my girl care packages and she's been out of bible school for more than a year. It's my way of telling her I miss her and am thinking of her all the time.

Used book stores, morning coffee--two great faves! September always seems like 'the new year' to me too, probably the student/teacher part ingrained in me.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Karen,
I really enjoy a good used book store. Books are one of my downfalls. Our daughter registered for a Keurig. I'm looking forward to a future visit when I can try it out. Have a wonderful weekend.

That bookstore sounds like a treasure!
My mom has a Keurig, and I love it, too. I want to get one for our home when we have a little bit of extra money. I like that the kids can make special hot chocolates, I can make fancy coffee and teas, and there's so little to clean up! A tiny splatter and a little cup, and it's done!
I always love when women praise their husbands. I see so much man bashing, that a simple praise or compliment makes me smile.
I'll bet your middle loved the care package. It is so much better to get "real" mail! That little bit of extra love and effort goes a long way.

In this day of email and texting - packages are more special than they ever were, I think.
And I LOVE used book stores - I have scored some great additions to my library.

Love perusing the cookbook shelf of used book stores. Sounds like the owner has the service bit down.
