Monday, Monday

Today is back-to-school for the Girl Child.  It's her first day of high school and she is the last and only one of our children still in K-12 school.  This morning was a far cry from the days when I had three kids all excited and scrambling to get out the door.

I celebrated anyway by hanging the flag, a family tradition described in this post. . .

. . .and eating the last few pieces of leftover Sesame Chicken, and the last scoop of Blue Bell Cookies & Cream ice cream for breakfast.  Oh, yes I did.

I took my son shopping for jeans, sneakers and stuff for his dorm, and then we picked up lunch from our favorite sandwich place.  Today was not a good day, nutritionally.

I got my haircut.

I'm making grilled salmon and baked potatoes for dinner.

I'm dreading Thursday when I have to take the Middle Child and leave him all alone at the ends of the earth, at college.

I ate an entire container of Ben and Jerrys for breakfast Saturday morning. It set the tone for a very bad sugar binge day for me. I don't know what on earth I was thinking. lol I love frozen sweet stuff. :)

I know how you feel.. my youngest starts 8th grade in a few weeks and it will be her last year at the school that she and her sister both went to, this last year will be our 16th straight year at the school. It saddens me to think that it is all almost over.

Have a great week.

HI KAREN,
IT IS VERY HARD LETTING THE KIDS GO OFF ON THEIR OWN, BUT....WE ALL HAVE TO DO IT. I'M SURE LUKE WILL MISS YOU JUST AS MUCH, WELL, MAYBE A LITTLE....YOU TWO ARE VERY CLOSE.
YOU BETTER BUY MORE ICE CREAM, THERE ARE MORE DAYS TO COME....TAKE CARE.
LOVE YA, AUNT RIZ

My youngest starts high school next Monday. My other son is starting his senior year in high school. I already feel like crying because he is leaving me in a year, Of course he can't wait to leave, good luck this week with your son, I'll be thinking of you.

It seems strange that kids are all returning to school for another year in your part of the world - ours meantime are still mid winter term with no more breaks till end Sept - however I should be used to it, two of my grandies live in Texas and they are returning next week - younger to 2nd year of middle school and elder to first year high school. I will be thinking of them as they start our next week. Blessings!

Oh hon, I'm 54 now and my children are nearly 33 and 37! I do remember those "back to school days" though.
