Friday Favorites

Linking up with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Friday Favorites.

1.  This was the first full week that my kids were in school.  It is the first time in 16 years that I'm not driving someone to school in the morning!  DH leaves at the same time as my daughter, so he drops her at school.  I feel deliciously spoiled, not having to get out of the house first thing in the morning.

2.  Kathy and I had our 'end of the summer pool party' yesterday to celebrate back-to-school.  It's an exclusive event -- she and I are the only ones invited.  And her dad.  Since it's his pool.  He comes for lunch, but the rest of the day it's just the two of us, on our rafts, looking up at the blue sky, talking and sipping iced lattes or drinks of choice.

3.  Seeing The Help on Wednesday morning. Geez, I've been spoiled this week.  I wrote about this in a previous post.  My book club went to an early show -- 10:00 in the morning for just six bucks -- since we had read the book together last spring.

4. This happened last week, but I'm still so tickled about it.  I found a teapot at this Etsy shop that goes with my mother's childhood tea set.  I think it's a pretty good match.  I have been searching for a long time and I'm so delighted.

5.  We continue to have hot, hot days, but the early mornings and evenings are cooler.  Perfect weather for porch sitting and morning coffee.

How was your week?

Sounds like a good and busy week!
We just finished our second week today! It is hard to believe we have been in school for two weeks and some haven't started yet.
Have a great weekend!
I have a high school reunion to attend tomorrow. :)

My week was great, thanks for asking :)

Busy and fast. But so very glad to have a weekend to refresh. Fall is blowing in this way too. We have been down in the 50s at night. Cool enough to have to pull the quilt up in the very early morning hours.

Have a great weekend!!

HI KAREN,
SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT WEEK, HOW NICE SPENDING TIME WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND, AND RELAXING AND HAVING FUN.
THE TEA POT IS PERFECT, GREAT MATCH, IT IS SUCH A DARLING SET.
I HAD A VERY HUMID AND RAIN ON AND OFF ALL WEEK. THEN WE HAD THE EARTHQUAKE, AND NOW WE ARE WAITING FOR IRENE, THEY SAY IT COULD GET PRETTY HAIRY. I GUESS I'LL BE SAYING MY HAIL MARY'S THIS WEEKEND.
WELL MY DEAR, TAKE CARE, I WILL CALL YOU. LOVE YA, AUNT RIZ

Sweet teapot. I guess one of these days I'll have to think of retiring to be able to do a movie in the morning and a few other fun activities.♥♫

My week was wonderfully tiring.
LOVE the tea pot you found!
My aunt has pieces like that from a collection from her childhood. She ties them with ribbons and hangs them from her Christmas tree.
Someday I just might remember to try it!

Sounds like a lively week! I especially like the end of summer pool party!

My son is driving himself to school and I am loving not having to get out in the morning, too.

That teapot is so cute!

Good morning, I'm up at 3am for some reason, probably anxious about this hurricane! I love your mom's little tea set and your new teapot is just perfect. Happy to hear that you are having your mornings to yourself - how lovely!
Take care - hoping to be back to blogging!!! xxoo

That's very nice of you and your friend to invite her dad to your pool party. I smiled when I read that it was an "exclusive event." What a wonderful tradition and way to celebrate friendship.

I am going to go see The Help on Tuesday with my sister and a mutual friend. The book gave me lots to think about.

Well, lady of leisure -- enjoy it! Sounds like an awesome week. The teapot is just beautiful.

Tell me, which did you enjoy more -- the movie or the book (The Help)? I read the book and am afraid to see the movie!

Have a great week.

That pool party sounds wonderful! School begins next Wednesday here in Belgium, and the weather has not been very kind lately. It's beginning to look a lot like Fall!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that teapot you found, I think you can never find a better match!
