Owls

My dad came over for lunch today and afterward we went to the open space near my house to pay a visit to our new neighbors.

This is part of the open space, looking west from the tree where the new family has set up a nursery.  Look at all that snow up in them thar' hills!

One little guy kept craning his neck to see what all the fuss was about.  I was sure he would topple out of the nest.  But he didn't.

Here's a closeup I took through a spotting scope.  The mama owl has three of these little cuties to care for.

"Mama, why are those people looking at us?"  "They wish they had a house with a view like we do, sweetheart."

And air conditioning, too!

I hope the mother will stay permanently even after her owlets are grown. They are just too adorable. What is it about baby animals that makes us ga ga over them? Enjoyed my visit.
