The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today. . .Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Outside my window. . . it is a cool 7 degrees Fahrenheit, with about two inches of snow.  The sun is shining bright in a clear, blue sky. We have the fireplace going and a pot of tea brewing.

I am thinking. . .this is the second day that the kids are home from school.  I don't ever recall the schools being closed due to cold weather.  I guess there's a first time for everything.

From the kitchen. . . leftover enchiladas for lunch.

I am wearing. . . jeans and a long sleeved tee-shirt.

I am creating. . . Valentine cookies!

I am going. . . no where!  I had an appointment this morning and I'm glad to be home again.
I am reading. . . "Get Out of My Life, But First Can You Drive Me and Cheryl to the Mall" and "Your Aging Dog."  At this point, I'm more optimistic about the dog.

I am  hoping. . . for a calm rest of the week.

I am hearing. . .A sitcom on t.v. and Lilly, our English Springer Spaniel, whining to go out.  It is soooo cold, and she just doesn't get it!  Nobody wants to play outside.

Around the house. . . kinda messy.  Unmade beds, a sink full of dirty dishes. We're very relaxed today.

One of my favorite things. . .Valentines, handwritten letters, Crabtree and Evelyn lavender soap.  (Yes, I know. That's three!)

A few plans for the rest of the week. . . we had a super busy weekend, so this weekend will be spent working on a few projects around the house (DH is redoing our kitchen island -- I will take before and after photos!).

A picture thought I am sharing. . .
I'm linking up with The Simple Woman's Daybook.

This all sounds wonderful.
We are off school for a third day due to the bitter cold this time.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog...Your blog is beautiful! I love your header, and I am assuming that you took those pictures for it?

I love the sound of a fire...and with the temperature only 7 degrees, what a great day to stay indoors.

Decision Points, by President Bush, is definitely a good read. I'm finished with the first two chapters and looking forward to the time when I can sit down and read some more of it. It's really giving me a glimpse into what made him the man he is. Let me know if you decide to read it. :)

What a nice glimpse into your day! There's a big writers conference in your neck of the woods I'd love to be attending.

I'll bet it's beautiful there. Stay warm.

I love to hear about the weather experienced in other states. I'm in Maryland and it is TRYING to get warmer to melt the snow. It is sure cold out in Colorado! Stay warm by your fire!
