Happy Friday

It's Friday, and time to link up at Susanne's to share the best parts of our week.

1.  Yesterday, after I dropped Emily at school, I took my usual route home and saw two Bald Eagles perched in a tree in the open space near our park.  It was thrilling to see the pair of them!  They looked so regal, looking over the snow covered fields, surveying their domain.

2.  Is it weird that sometimes I like having my kids home sick?  Not because they're sick, but because it means I don't go out anywhere. I tend to work on projects that keep me close to them so I can keep an eye on them, feel their foreheads, bring them ginger ale and sit on the sofa next to them every so often to catch up on episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place. I love that show. Don't tell anyone because it's written for 10-year-olds.

3.  Talking to Kathy on the phone.  I haven't talked to her in two weeks, so we had lots to catch up on.  While I had cleaned up the kitchen, fed the dogs and then stretched out on the sofa and twirled my hair for 20 minutes, we got all caught up with each other and had solved many of the world's problems.  I love having a friend like that.

4.  I cleaned out the pantry and re-stocked.  I feel like I have King Soopers in my back room.  Everything I need, all neat and organized.

5.  Meeting new bloggers!  I found some new blogs this week and have met the nicest people.  It's a Very Cherry World  is filled with vintage charm!  Check it out.

It's fun to have a friend to talk to on the phone like that. I used to be able to spend about an hour a day sharing with my sister-in-law / best friend. But then we both got full time jobs and life got too busy ... I miss that!

I totally understand about liking to have a day home with our kids - just as long as they're not too sick!

KAren,
So glad you had a nice week. I am just like you and I don't mind if my kids are home sick. It is nice to fuss over them and take care of them, now that mine are getting older, fussing time is usually more like lecture time. And a best friend is the best. Someone who is always there for you no matter what. Glad you have that in your life.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Meredith

A couple of snows ago (yes, plural, in a land that is lucky to get one weak snow per winter!), Hubby and I stocked up on groceries. It felt so good to know I had everything I needed, and could stay snug indoors and enjoy the view outside my windows, knowing I dind't have to go out other than to take the pups to do their business. It's a good feeling. ;-)

HI KAREN,
I USED TO FEEL THE SAME WAY WHEN MY KIDS WERE YOUNGER, I ALWAYS LOVED HAVING MY KIDS HOME. I USED TO LOVE IT WHEN SUMMER COMES, I KNOW YOU DO TOO. JACKIE FEELS THE SAME WAY.
I SPOKE TO MY BEST FRIEND CARMEN THIS WEEK, SHE HAD AN OPERATION, SH3 IS HOME AND DOING GOOD. I SENT HER A BASKET FULL OF ALL KINDS OF CHEESES AND FRESH FRUIT, SHE LOVES CHEESE, SO WE HAD A NICE LONG TALK.
DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT WAVERLY PLACE, WE WATCH IT EVERY EVENING WHILE WE EAT, AND I AM 71 YEARS OLD.
MY COMPUTER WAS ACTING UP THIS WEEK, SO I DIDN'T GET ON MY BLOG FOR A WHILE. I HOP3 YOUR COMING WEEK IS A HAPPY ONE. LOVE,
AUNT RIZ

I like the thought of solving the world's problems with a good friend ... Oh what a fun talk that must have been :)

I know what you mean -- I've had a sick one home this week, and though I hate that he's sick, it has been nice not to have to go anywhere. Made the days seem so much longer and less fragmented.

I used to have a couple of "phone friends" like that, and my mom and I would always talk for about an hour. My mom has passed away and my friends and I tend to e-mail now, but I sometimes miss those longer chats.

When I lived in Colorado Springs the last place I lived was near Glen Eagle. Often I would walk there (my dd worked in the laundry dept)and it was always exciting when I saw the bald eagles.

I enjoy those kinds of phone calls where we solve the world's problems AND I get my cleaning done.

I'm enjoying getting to know new bloggers too.

What a great week. Sick kids CAN be nice to have around. Especially if they are on the mend and just needing some TLC.

I don't think it's weird at all to like having your kids home every now and then. Special togetherness time.

I smiled at the twirling of the hair 20 times, great to have a phone friend.
Oh I so remember a sick day, it was an excuse to cuddle, read, relax and spend some quality time.

thanks for stopping by my blog! Sounds like you had a great week! Spending time with a friend is always fun!
I used my small things menu to plan the grocery list then picked coupons. It was a double good small thing!
Have a wonderful week!

The "twirled my hair for 20 minutes" was a nice touch. I could really picture you having a phone conversation with an old friend.
I'm getting ready to go to brunch with a friend from high school. I don't have enough hair to twirl, though, but the thought will be there.

Sounds like a great week! I am a total homebody so I understand your love of just being home and having to go.

I would love to be stocked up on groceries...I'm tired of my children whining that we have nothing to eat...we actually do have plenty to eat, just not what they want!

Have a great weekend, I'll have to try to find time to check out that blog!

Wow! TWO bald eagles!? That is not something you see everyday.

It's nice that you like to fuss over your sick kids. It's not like it is a life threatening illness or anything.

Long talks with a best friend are wonderful - even over the phone!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. If you are going to make treat cans, start saving the cans now. I used pineapple cans that have the lid that you pull off. Use a safety can opener to open them on the bottom. It usually takes me a long time to save cans because I don't use many canned foods. Have fun. Enjoy this coming week as it sounds like it will be a nice one for us. ♥♫

I haven't had a "phone" friend for a few years now, but I remember how I loved to see her name come up on the call display.

How exciting to see not one but two bald eagles!

I love when I see an eagle! Two must have been magnificent! I have my kids home all the time, because i homeschool, but when they are sick, like you, I do enjoy the down time, the quiet, and the way they let go of their tweenishness, and allow me to baby them a little bit. I had two good girlfriend phone calls this week, and they both left me feeling wonderful. I'm glad you had a good week.
