Friday

TGIFriday!  Even though my week doesn't involve a traditional Monday through Friday job routine, I still feel the joy of Friday, that deep sigh of relief and relaxing of the shoulders that comes with knowing I can put my feet up at the end of the day and that tomorrow will be less structured and more spontaneous.

It has been a week blessed with:

Transitioning back to normal.  The party atmosphere of the past couple weeks has wound down, but remnants linger in the air.  In my mind's eye, there are still pieces of streamers stuck to light fixtures and deflated balloons caught under the furniture.  In reality there are a couple of broken candy canes in the candy dish, a late Christmas card arrived in yesterday's mail, and the rum cake has taken hold of my hips.  The flowers have wilted on the Christmas cactus and a few holiday photo cards are stuck on the fridge.

Writing letters.  I'm taking part in the 52 Letters 52 Weeks Challenge and got off to a big start with some thank you notes for Christmas.  My handwriting is somewhat out of tune, but it felt good to have that neat little stack of envelopes, stamped and addressed, ready to send on their way.

Salads.  I'm back to healthier eating, which means salad for lunch and lots of water.  Also, my daily routine of taking Em to school and then taking the dogs to the dog park.  They romp with Bella the Great Dane and their new friend, Chloe the Boxer.  I've met a new friend, too, a nice young college gal who just moved here from Texas.

Photos. I made a small dent in the photo project that I'm taking on this year:  Organizing the past two years worth of files.  I love the digital age for the ease it provides in taking lots and lots of pictures and the ability to edit them.  However, out of sight, out of mind, and now two years worth have accumulated and only a handful have been printed and none put in scrapbooks.  I have my work cut out for me.

Honey Vanilla Chamomile Tea. Celestial Seasonings makes this yummy tea.  I'm trying to cut down on the amount of coffee I drink, and this is a delicious and satisfying substitute.

I'm linking up with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

Love that letter challenge!

I feel the same way about photos and I had better get going with it because I'll behind in no time with all the photos I've been taking of the baby.

Mmmm, that tea sounds yummy. I've been looking for some new teas to try.

I like all your goals and definitely relate to them. Organizing digital photos is definitely something I need to be doing!

I hear you on the photo thing. I have so many accumulated on my computer, and they never make it to actual photographs. Technology makes some things easier, but it sure has complicated getting prints. I fear the day of photo albums is fading away :(

one of my new year goals ( i don't call them resolutions) is to get our photos which are stored on an old computer, over to the website I like and create scrapbooks. I have to go back as far as 2006!!! I also have to put together some kind of slideshow for my daughter's high school graduation party come late June. SOOO many pics, so little time! But..it's a goal....I'll have to look for that tea...I prefer coffee but like a good herbal tea in late evenings....happy FFF

Sounds like you have had a busy week.
Nothing like "getting back to normal." (whatever normal is)
But routines can be nice.

Have a super weekend.

Hello, Karen! It is so nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting my blog. It sounds as though you had a very productive week. The letter challenge sounds very interesting! I just got done reading the book "As Always, Julia". It is a compilation of letters written between Julia Child and her dear friend Avis DeVoto. It was quite fascinating to read these ladies' letters to one another. I look forward to visiting you again! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Karen,
Oh that letter writing challenge really caught my eye. I used to be so good at that but not so much lately. Rum cake on the hips...yes I have a few lovely food memories stored on my body. Sounds like you have some good goals going. Have a wonderful weekend...

I was glad to get back to the routine, or at least head that way. Thought I'd get lost done but I was fuzzier-brained than I anticipated. Looking forward to next week!

I know what you mean about digital photos. I have a few years worth that are organized by date, and a few years more of print photos taken before we got digital cameras. Some day...

I with you on transitioning back to normal -- in food and everything else. Something comforting about routine.
