Quick and easy projects

Remember this little ottoman that I picked up from a garage sale last week?

This morning, I whipped up a little cover for it, using a couple of extra curtain panels that match the valence in my sewing room. I think it turned out kinda cute. I put a button on each corner, to reinforce the pleat that makes the corner.
I love projects that are quick and easy. Next up: these two wall lamps that I picked up from another garage sale this morning. I need to spray paint the metal bases. At five bucks a piece, I think they were a real deal! Especially since I've been looking for something like this for our bedroom and I just love the pretty, almost new shades.

And this sweet little wood tray was just 50 cents. Best of all, it needs no fixing up! It's perfect, just the way it is.

I love garage sales! Can you tell?

HI KAREN,
YOUR A PRETTY BUSY LADY THESE DAYS. LOVE YOUR OTTERMAN, IT CAME OUT REAL NICE.
YOUR LAMPS ARE NICE TOO, AND THE TRAY WAS A STEAL. I REMEMBER THE TIMES WHEN I CAME OUT TO VISIT, YOU AND YOUR MOM, AND I WENT TO GARAGE SALES, THEN LUNCH. WE ALWAYS HAD A GOOD TIME.
LOVE, AUNT RIZ

There's a certain charm in garage sale finds. The ottoman is so pretty now, and wow, great lamps. Will you repaint them white, or change the color? Enjoy!

That is so pretty! I wish I were handy with a sewing machine, but they don't like me, or I don't like them, not sure which way it goes! LOL

Love those lamps, that would be cool to have in bed to read, but my husband is not a reader so he doesn't like the light on so they would never be used here...I usually read before I head to bed! :) Can't wait to see the lamps all fixed up!

Oh, Karen...you know I love yard sales, too! It's been a few weeks since I've been to any. I just don't feel right dragging Drew out in the heat. Maybe next year he'll be at an age where I can get to yard sales again. For now, I'll have to visit your blog and enjoy all your wonderful finds!

Have a great Saturday afternoon!

Blessings,

Paula

You sure know how to make the good bargains happen at those garage sales! I never see things like that - but then I rarely go to browse them and we're in a different country too - I'm sure that makes a difference. You've done a beautiful job on the valance! You should be proud of all your work!
Blessings!

Great finds, and great ideas, Karen. :-) I love garage sales, too, but in my part of the country, it's too hot to enjoy them this time of year. In fall and spring, they're a blast. In summer, the faint of heart don't venture out. I went with my sis-in-law yesterday, simply because I'd been cooped up indoors (in a/c) all week, but at nearly 100 degrees (combined with high humidity), it was not fun. Ugh. I had my wet neck wrap on, and toted a large travel mug with ice-water, but I was sure glad to get back home. I'm ready for fall! ;-Þ
