Friday's Fave Five

It's time to look back on the week and find five of the highlights that made it special. Hook up with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, if you'd like to join in.

1. For our anniversary, DH and I had dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Briarwood, in Golden. We had a nice, elegant dinner, took a drive afterwards, and were home in time to watch the Rockies game, in our pajamas with our laptops clicking away. Dates just get better and better, after 26 years:)

2. My daughter is taking horseback riding lessons this summer. While she has her morning lesson, I get to spend the hour and a half having coffee with her instructor's 81-years-young husband, on their patio overlooking their small ranch. He is such an amazing individual, a real cowboy and full of stories and yarns. When Emily's lesson is in the late afternoon, he invites me or Dan (whoever is the lucky one to be there that day!) for a 'cocktail on the patio.' Em's instructor is a former rodeo performer and is as spry and energetic as they come. I have no doubt that, in her 7th decade, she could still ride bareback and jump horses!

3. Dan took some vacation time this week and summer weather has arrived. We've alternated work and play. It would be nice to spend the entire summer this way, but it's also nice that he has a job:)

4. It's garage sale season! Last week I found the table and chairs in the picture above, which sit on my front porch.

5. Barbeque time! Like everybody else, I get so tired of cooking the same thing. In the summer, we use the grill a lot and it gets everyone in on the action! Last week, I made a pork loin, the other night Dan grilled some ribs and tonight we're grilling chicken for fajitas. Luke is the master burger griller:) We eat on the back patio, and it's like having a picnic every night.

How was your week?? Any highlights you'd like to share? Enjoy the weekend!

I love barbecue time as well. And yard sale time. Can I just say I love your table and chairs you found for your porch!

It's great your hubby has had time off, but even better he has a job!

I had to smile at the thought of you clicking away at your laptops on your date!

Love your new bistro set, the green is a nice cool summer color! And I hear you on the cooking thing. My daughters have started cooking a few meals here and there, which is a nice break! Food always tastes better when someone else cooks it :)

I loved your description of your anniversary celebration. It sounds like some of the celebrations my hubby and I have done, except for the Rockies game...well, and we've been married 31 years. But we both love to compute and so we often sit side-by-side with our laptops after a date night and watch a show together. Have a great week.

sounds like a great week. My 16 yr old daughter did equestrian from age 7-13...had to quit halfway through junior high, first year because she just got so busy with academics, youthgroup, clubs, etc. She misses the horses...but once they are riders they can always do it in adult years is what I've told her. Hope your daughter has fun with it!!
great fave five list...enjoy the weekend!!

Happy Anniversary!

Good find on the table and chairs for your porch!

The equestrian couple sound like interesting people. How nice that your wait for your daughter can be filled with companionship.

My 10 year old daughter and I take horseback riding lessons, too. Mine was 9 this morning; hers was 3:30, after school.
I hope we'll both continue and become bonafide equestrians. :)
EnJoy your weekend too.

Great highlights---
We've had warm weather here but been busy helping Ken get back to feeling like his old self.
He is getting better each day--it's just a slow process.

Your table and chairs are cute!

Have great weekend.

A sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm. Your description of your anniversary evening made me giggle! Isn't it funny how things as simple as sitting together watching TV is so reassuring and comforting! Love that little table and chair set on your front porch - FHFB and I stopped at a few garage sales last weekend - no big purchases but a few sweet little things. We're barbequing right now, or I should say that FHFB is out there grilling - we're trying wedges of sweet potatoes in our grill basket tonight with a steak and some asparagus from the garden, along with a salad of course because FHFB brings in a laundry bag of lettuces every day - they are growing like weeds out there! Glad to hear you are all well - that cup of coffee with the cowboy sounds so enjoyable! Ciao, bella!

It's good to look back and find things that made us happy recently! When I look over the past week my Fave Five would be enjoying time with friends, visiting family, a sunny day, taking time for a pedicure, and spending time in the garden!

Happy Anniversary!

The horse-riding lessons sound fun--the listening to stories part. I've always been a little scared of the riding part.

We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs last night and ate on the deck since the humidity was down. It officially felt like summer. I never have your luck at garage sales. ;(

Love the table and chair set! So nice by your front door!

Your anniversary date sounds like it was perfect. That menu looks delicious. So what did ya have?

I love bbq time. It somehow makes meal time so much simpler.

P.S. And, no, I do not have a table and chair set just like that. :vD
