On Saturday, we drove through the mountains to the western slope for my niece's graduation party. It was a pleasant drive, with clear weather and spectacular views. My brother and his wife have a small ranch. We spent the afternoon, visiting with family and friends, on the large deck that overlooks their property. I spent some of the time taking pictures of this guy and his friends. . .
Isn't he just the cutest little baby? He has yet to be branded, but his ear is tagged with the brand that will eventually go on his little hindside. He doesn't have a clue what's in store for him:(.
On Sunday, we drove back through the mountains. When we got home, our boys were eager to show us the hail damage that had occurred the day before. It could have been a lot worse, but my plants did take a beating. Marble-sized hail pelted the area and left tree leaves strewn all through the streets and on lawns throughout the neighborhood. We lucked out, because only the day before, nearby areas had severe hail damage, with 6 to 12 inches of the stuff falling in a short period of time.
So, Sunday afternoon, was spent cleaning up my garden, pruning back a few rosebushes and trying to appreciate that the damage we suffered is nothing compared to what it does to farmers who earn their living by growing crops.
One of the rosebushes I planted before the storm. . .
Monday turned out to be a busy day, when Luke was called to play a couple of baseball games. I took Em and a couple of friends to the pool. Dan is taking the week off, so it feels like the weekend is still going!
Today, we spent the day cleaning out our camper trailer. For supper tonight, we grilled some ribs and ate on the back porch. A perfect way to welcome the first day of June!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
