Spring Reading Thing 2010

Welcome, fellow book lovers!

You know it's officially Spring when Katrina at Callapiddar Days puts up the button for her Spring Reading Thing. Hers is a fun, low-pressure reading challenge open to anyone and everyone who loves books and likes to talk about books. It will take place March 20th-June 20th.

Those of you who are reading this and already signed up for SRT, you know what it's all about. For those who don't, in short, here's what you need to do: Make a list of books you'd like to read or finish this Spring, share it in a post with other SRT participants, READ, and then write a post letting everyone know how you did.

Here's my list. I'm keeping it short and reserve the right to change this list at any time without prior approval from anyone but me;) In other words, I like to read as the spirit moves me.

* An Absence So Great by Jane Kirkpatrick (I'll be having a book giveaway for this one next week. Stay tuned!)

* Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Nasalund (This is for my book club's April meeting. I think most everyone has read it. Except my book club.)

* An Irish Country Doctor by Patrick Taylor. (A friend loaned me this book, saying it is a lot like the Mitford series by Jan Karon.)

* Helen of Troy by Margaret George (I've read one other book by Margaret George, Mary of Magdalene, and it is on my top 10 list of favorite books.)

I am heading over to Katrina's to sign up!

HI KAREN,
I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOU INTRODUCED ME TO CALLAPIDDAR DAYS, SINCE THEN I DID READ A FEW BOOKS, AND ENJOYED THEM. I WILL JOIN THE "SPRING READING THING 2010" I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. I STARTED READING "FRIED GREEN TOMATOES" WHICH I AM ENJOYING, BUT THIS WILL GIVE ME INCENTIVE TO PICK UP THE BOOK AGAIN. THERE ARE A FEW MORE BOOKS I ORDERED BY FANNY FLAGG, AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO READING THEM TOO. HOPE ALL IS WELL, I LOVE YOUR NEW BLOG LOOK, SO SPRING, LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. LOVE, AUNT RIZ

What a fun idea! I haven't heard of Ahab's Wife, but it sounds intriguing. I'm so immersed in a writing project right now, I can't commit to the SRT, but I'm certainly taking notes for books to add to my To-Read list :)

Hello from Frog Hollow Farm. I loved the Irish Country Christmas book, there's a whole series by the author - the name of the town is a hoot, something like Ballydoodlehoodle (not really, but it's a long name). Ciao, bella!

I am, as usual, writing a few of these down. I am not sure if I will get to the Spring Reading thing. Well, I'll certainly read, but not sure if I will get to posting. It has been a couple of years I think, since I posted with Katrina's challenge.

I love this idea though I'm overloaded with reading til the end of spring semester. It seems like a good approach for my summer reading though. I did read the Irish Country Doctor at the pool last summer and really enjoyed it!
