Friday's Fave Five

It's Friday, and time to look back over the past week, say, "Ahhh," and remember five ways I've been blessed. Suzanne is hosting Friday's Fave Five -- #79! -- so, join in if you'd like.

1. I've never really understood the appeal of Facebook. Until now. This past week, I've hooked up with friends and family that I haven't been in contact with in a very long time, and it's been such fun. I even learned that one of my cousins has a blog, too. She lives in a quaint old stone farmhouse in New Jersey and is an amazing cook. Stop by at Frog Hollow Farm Girl, and tell Ann Marie I sent you;)

2. This puppy has been blessing me all week long. In just six weeks, she's grown from 8 lbs to almost 20. It's like having a toddler around. My husband says she has two speeds: Go Fast and Stop. She's either racing around like crazy or sleeping in a heap on the floor. My other HUGE blessing is Abby, who still thinks we're both too old to be raising another pup, but is a good sport about it.
3. My book club. We had a good discussion on Wednesday about Brunonia Barry's The Lace Reader. My review wasn't all that glowing, but after discussing it with the group, I had some new insights. In fact, I wouldn't mind going back and reading it again!

4. I spent a few hours yesterday afternoon setting up for a Gala for my son's school. The evening's silent auction will benefit all of the sports programs at the school. It was nice spending some time with other soccer/football/baseball/basketball/wrestling-moms, and amazing to see the amount of support the community gives our young athletes.

5. Last but not least, we're in the midst of a winter storm, but my husband's flight arrived safely and on time this morning. He's home for the rest of the day, we've got a fire going in the fireplace and banana bread fresh out of the oven. Life is good:)

Hi Karen. I love Facebook and have gotten in touch with so many people. In fact, tomorrow, I'm meeting two friends from high school who I haven't seen for more than 20 years and we hooked up on Facebook. Your puppy is just adorable!! The winter storm is heading our way too...I hope it waits until after my little reunion and then baking bread sounds great.

Have a great weekend,
Jackie

Interesting about The Lace Reader, and wanting to perhaps read it again. I've done that with a few books, and always get something from a second reading, some nuance, some grace with the language, that I missed the first time. One time, I started a reread immediately upon finishing the book. It's always been worth it.

A sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm and thanks for mentioning my blog in your post - I've had several visitors already and I love meeting new people through my blog. Sounds like you are very thankful and happy at the moment - it's wonderful to feel that contentment, isn't it? I miss having a dog in our house - we had Bear for 11 years and then old Brinkley for 3 years. Right now, without a dog around our property, the deer are knocking on our door for coffee! Take care!

Your fave five sounds a little like my life.
I'm a recent fb user.
My dog is my fourth child.
I'm in a book club and just posted about it on 3/12/10.
Two of my kids are involved in sports and it's a good thing.
And, my husband just came home from a business trip to Chicago.
Life "IS" good. :)
Enjoy your weekend!

Facebook is something I just haven't allowed myself to get into. I already spend too much time on the computer. I'm afraid it will suck me right in. LOL.

Your fire, tea, banana bread sound wonderful.

I like hearing different perspectives on books. You'll have to let us know what you think with your new insights.

What a precious pup!

It's always good to have the hubby back home again. My son is back in the US after a mission trip to Mexico, and I'm relieved.

Enjoy your weekend.

It always makes me feel a bit more grounded to come see your Fave Fives. And that puppy is just so stinkin' cute. Makes me miss my granddog, who I will be seeing in a few short weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend, Karen.

I've been connecting with school mates from high school on Facebook recently. I can't believe how old they are all looking!
Your sweet Lily is just a doll -I'm glad you are finding so much enjoyment with her.

I have also connected with so any via Facebook. I am from a very large family so it has been a great way for us all to keep up with each other across the miles.

Blessings are a lot of energy but also a lot of fun. Too cute!

Sometimes storms aren't all that bad. Especially when you are home with those you love in the middle of it.

Sounds to me like that pup is keeping you moving - and probably young in heart! You have to laugh at their antics at times don't you - hope they far outweigh the 'muddy floors' etc.
Blessings!
