Monday, Monday

FOR TODAY, January 18th, 2009 ...

Outside My Window...
A bit of a gray day. The sun is out, but the light is diffused by clouds and the heavy winter air. There are still patches of snow on the ground and the temperatures are chilly.

I am thinking...About the people of Haiti and what it would be like to have my world turned upside down like theirs has been.

From the kitchen... Burritos.

I am wearing...jeans, black shirt and my new favorite long sweater vest.

I am creating... some things in my sewing room. Just playing with fabric, making aprons.

I am going... to a movie ("Avatar") with my daughter this afternoon.

I am reading...finishing up Dragon House by John Shors. It's an excellent book, can't wait to tell you all about it.

I am hoping...that I can stay caught up with work. I worked long and hard last week, and if I stick to my plan, it should stay manageable.

I am thankful . . . that things are not always as bad as they seem.

I am hearing... the t.v. in the other room.

Around the house...kids are off school today, they are in and out with friends, so the house is feeling very busy and very lived in.

Some of my favorite things..."dangly" earrings, freshly brewed coffee, Pentel RSVP fine point pens, movie popcorn.

A few plans for the rest of the week...get my hair highlighted, book club, leave for Albuquerque on Friday for a retreat!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...one of our favorite holiday traditions is to have a jigsaw puzzle to work on the dining room table. It would be fun to do all the time, but I have absolutely no self discipline and can't keep myself away.

We always do a jigsaw puzzle in the summer, on vacation, set up on the cottage porch. What is it about those puzzles that just draws us to them? It seems like someone in the family is always sitting there, working on it, and when one gets up, someone else takes their seat!

Busy Monday for you--
Have a great time in Albq. New Mexico. If you go by a restaurant called Rudy's BBQ you have to STOP there. They have the most delish BBQ outside of here. At least for us.

This gives a lovely sketch of who you are and where you are in exactly this moment. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Yum, you make burritos, must share your recipe! I hope you enjoyed Avatar... I didn't really think I wanted to go, but my husband talked me into it and I ended up just loving it! :) I do love sci-fi so that really helped.

We always work a jigsaw puzzle after Christmas, around New Years. I can only talk my husband into one a year, but it's a great tradition we both love. Great picture!!!

Have a wonderful week!

I cannot even imagine how awful such a crisis as those in Haiti are suffering would be if it hit us here. It boggles my mind.

How did you guys like Avatar?

There's a jigsaw puzzle on our kitchen table right now. We've been eating at the island. Normally, we put down a couple of poster boards - one to piece the puzzle together on, and the other to hold the pieces. When we need to use the table, we move the two poster boards.

I'm reading "These is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine 1881-1901" by Nancy E. Turner. Only on page 54, but so far, very good. (It's fiction)
