Monday, Monday

For Today...March 30, 2009

Outside my window... most of the 14" of snow from the blizzard last Thursday has melted. Last night, it snowed about an inch, a light dusting that covered the lawns and gave fresh coats to all the snowmen that are hanging out on the lawns in our neighborhood.

I am thinking... spring break is over and in two months the kids will be out of school for the summer. I know the time will go fast. In less than two weeks, Joe will be home for Easter. As I'm counting down for what lies in the future, I need to enjoy each day and be present in the moment.

I am thankful for... books. That my parents instilled in me a love for reading.

From the kitchen... cinnamon rolls. Soccer and baseball are canceled for the next couple days, so we'll go back into winter mode and have cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate.

I am wearing... jeans, long sleeved t-shirt, hiking boots

I am reading... Escaping Into the Open; the Art of Writing True, by Elizabeth Berg.

I am hoping... for some nice weather soon, to start my garden.

I am creating... order out of chaos in my home. (Still working on it!)

I am hearing... the clock ticking, the dog snoring softly at my feet and Phil Collins singing "Against All Odds."

Around the house... paint the upstairs hallway.

One of my favorite things... meeting my brother for coffee on Mondays. (Hi, Matt;)

A few plans for the rest of the week... more snow is predicted, so our calendar will most likely be fairly empty without baseball and soccer. Tomorrow night: dinner out with girlfriends to celebrate a birthday.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you... spring four years ago. Em's first communion. Where has the time gone? My kids are growing up too fast!

For more Daybooks, go on over to Peggy's at the Simple Woman's Daybook. Or try writing one of your own. It's lotsa fun!

I know you'll be glad when the snow is finally gone and the tulips come up!

I totally love books, too. They are essential!

I noticed you and I had the same answer about bringing order out of chaos. It's taking longer than I would have ever dreamed!

Hope the cinnamon rolls turned out - I love to smell them when they're baking!

Oh my. Against all Odds by Phil Collins - LOVE that song and brings back some memories...(sigh)

But, I digress. Love books, love cinnamon rolls, love order instead of chaos.

Warning: Overuse of the word love in this comment section. :)

Mmmmm...cinnamon rolls sound wonderful right now!
I can't believe the weather this year. I am beginning to wonder if warm weather will ever get here. But at least we don't have snow - just cold wind and rain.

What a sweet picture of your little girl and her two big brothers. :-)

Though we got no snow, it did turn wintry here again this week. I'm sure this will be old man winter's last big huff for us this year. Things usually get warm and stay that way by early to mid-April.

I wish there was the scent of cinnamon rolls coming from my kitchen! ;-)

thanks a lot. now i can't get cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate off my mind =)

i don't know why, but these snow storms aren't bothering me. i'm looking forward to warm weather again, but i figure a few small snow storms to end the winter isn't all that bad. we can sure use the moisture.

My kids keep growing up too. Grandkids are doing the same thing. I don't know what's wrong with them.

I can't believe you guys are still getting snow. It makes me so happy to be a resident of Kentucky.

It's been fun catching up on your days. I've given up on getting anything else accomplished here at my office. Even though end-of-month reports need to be completed, it has been Constant Interruption Day, so I might as well relax and give up.
I love how you had cookies waiting for Em & her friend when they found their way back home.
I'll bet you are excited about Joe coming home soon! College men love Mom's home cooking, so make sure his favorite recipes are handy!

May spring come soon.

And flowers blooming and birds singing.
