It's time for Susanne's Friday Fave 5, taking a look back at the week and thinking of the good stuff that happened. I love doing this. It's a good reminder of all I have to be thankful for. 1. First on my list happened just today. We got the news that my brother, Matt, will be home in time for Christmas! He's been over in the big sandbox since March, with a short leave home in September. This time he'll be home for good, a whole month earlier than we expected! 2. Everything else seems to pale in comparison to #1, but it was such a good week overall. Today, Dan and I had our traditional Christmas shopping day. He takes a day off work and we start out with breakfast, this time at The Egg and I. We got a lot done and had to stop to refuel with coffee a couple times. Such a good day spent together. 3. We had our first snowfall last night. I don't know if it was enough to be considered the first of the season as it was only a dusting at our house. But, even if we didn't officially break the record of November 15th as the "latest first snowfall" (say it slowly, I did), it was nice to have the white stuff and the cold, cold morning. 4. I got two real letters in the mail this week! I love snail mail, and since I don't write many letters, I rarely get them. Maybe I should make it a practice to write more. Hmmm. 5. A book from Amazon arrived on my doorstep earlier this week. It was a steal, from the used book section. I've been on a mission to find a print of this painting. I don't know if one exists, but in the meantime, it has a full page in the book. It's called Before the Railroad Came and it depicts one of my favorite eras and subjects, women on the Western frontier. The book is on the complete works of the artist W.H.D. Koerner.
It was such a good week, but I'll stick with the rules and end here at 5;)
