Color my world! Please!

I've decided to bite the bullet and have someone come over and help me figure out what to do about the walls in this place. When we bought our house, it was nice in that the whole thing is very neutral in color. Meaning beige. And there's not a thing wrong with beige, except that I thrive on color.
So, it wasn't long before I was bringing home paint samples and taping them to the walls, getting out some cans of paint and swishing a bit of color here and there to see how it plays out in the light. And, now, I'm stuck. I'm not sure if it's the light in this house or if its the fact that the rooms don't really end, they just lead on into the next one, but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what colors to do and where they should go.
My friend Claudia is one of those people who is just a wealth of information. From dog training to interest rates to understanding the Trinity, this woman has an insight into everything. So I called her, and sure enough she has a source who will come over to my house, spend two or three hours and help me map out a plan. For a very reasonable fee, I might add. It's worth the cost of two or three gallons of paint if it will save me the torment and gnashing of teeth in trying to come up with a plan on my own.
So Friday, Kris of 'Kris & Kris Designs' is coming over. In the meantime, I'm getting out all of my magazine clippings that I've been saving because she said it would help her come up with ideas. And I'm dragging the pictures up from the basement that I love, but don't know where to hang them. And I'm prepping Hubs, because once Kris and I come up with a plan, whoa, boy, here I go off to Home Depot for some more paint!

That sounds like fun! I love color too but I am scared to death to pick anything out - that's why my entire house is still plain ole' beige!
Maybe all your hard work will give me some ideas - not to mention some courage!

Ya know I was very lucky to have a girlfriend who has a knack for that....after it was all over I took her too lunch one day during the holidays when life is hectic.
I wish you luck with all your color....I enjoyed picking it out but getting it done..well thats another story.

What fun! I bet you are loving that house and the process of making it your own. I agree with others though, picking out color can be a bit nerve wracking for me.

sounds great! i know how you're feeling. i want to do some painting, rearranging, and decorating but i'm just not good at that kind of stuff. i have the same problem with my rooms all running into each other so i don't know which walls to paint or where to stop with one color and go on with another.

i guess i should look into a designer, too. i'd have to save up for that, but it would be worth it.

You go girl!! Good for you admitting you need help. When we were looking at houses I would cringe at what I call Martha Stewart gone wrong. You could see the people were trying, but they did not take into account what type of house or wall they were dealing with. That is one of the reasons I like our house. It is like a blank slate since most every wall and ceiling needs work so I can start from scratch. Please share with us the results, I for one enjoy seeing pictures. Best to you Barbara

How fun! I had to have someone pick out colors for my rooms when we did the downstairs, now I need to do the upstairs and will have to have help. My other girl doesn't work anymore. Let us know what you do and take lots of pictures!

Ooh, what a great plan. I wish I could have someone come here and do that for me. I lack imagination, but I do desire color and more personality than my home displays. I wish I had a Claudia in MY life! ;-Þ

I look forward to following along with the project. Lots of pictures, please!

How fun! I would love to have someone come over and tell me how to paint and decorate...LOL!

I think you have some talent yourself, considering how well your laundry room turned out...

Hi Karen! Thanks for your sweet welcome. I am going to do the best I can. I've missed writing, but have been reading, just not commenting. So I have kept up with you after all.

Happy fall!

Wow, I haven't stopped by in awhile. I wasn't sure I was in the right place. I love the new look of your blog. Those pumpkins are gorgeous! How about painting the walls orange?

That's awesome, I can't wait to hear (and hopefully see!) what she recommends and what you guys decide on. I'm lost on paint. Most every room in my house is the same color as it was the day I moved in. All but two. Paint scares me, and color does a bit too. It doesn't help that neither my husband nor I like painting. In fact, we both loathe, detest and hate it!!! Hence, the walls never get painted!
