Lavender and Laundry

"We" have been painting again. Actually, I've been supervising and Hubs has been hard at work, transforming the laundry room from "it's a laundry room," to "WOW! What a pretty, lavendar, functional laundry room!"
Without further ado. . . Here's my laundry room, complete with folding area, hanging rod and shelving, all installed by my personal Handy Man. The clothes hampers wheel out and there are four compartments. I have never been able to limit my sorting to "lights" and "darks". I need a place for "whites" and "delicates." And, ideally, "jeans" and "towels." But, I digress.
On the opposite wall there is a clock (so I know when it's time to rush out the door and pick up the kids) and a yardstick hanging in a little holder made by a former Cub Scout (whatever happened to yardsticks? When I was growing up, there was always one hanging in the kitchen behind the door, at the ready.)
The baskets hold an assortment of cleaners, lightbulbs, gift bags (I know that's odd, but I find the best place to wrap a gift is on top of the washer/dryer. Lots of room there.) And on the shelf is a James Saltwater Taffy bank for all the change I find. (Someday, I'm going to cash it in and take a trip). Oh, and the jar of clothespins. Because, what laundry room is complete without wooden clothespins?
I love my lavendar laundry room. I wasn't able to convince Emily to paint her room lavendar. Hubs is easy going, but he drew the line at a lavendar bedroom. I think it's a pretty color for a laundry room, don't you? Not normal, but after all . . .

I so love it. We are making over our laundry room after Christmas...I guess you could call it a Winter Project....I want bright colors though...we have to stay cheery in that room since we work so hard in it.
I love the colors you chose...great ideas.

I love the room, I love the color, and I love the sign!

I envy you that space and shelving. I told my dh, two things I want different in our next house are a kitchen and a laundry room that work for ME. I can overlook a lot in other rooms, but those rooms will be what I want, or I I'm stayin' put! ;-Þ

As someone with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom done in various shades of purple, I love it!

My laundry room is a reddish-orange color and it makes doing laundry much nicer when the room is bright and colorful.

What a wonderful laundry room. I re-did mine earlier this year. Having a beautiful space makes completing the chore of laundry more pleasant.

I love it all, it looks great! The sign is too cute. I keep wooden clothespins and use them all the time. I SO want those hampers on wheels with the flat top for folding! Did you buy any of that? I've never had anything like that in my laundry room but think something like that could work for me.

Once again I am so jealous! :) What does that say about my house that I am jealous over someone else's laundry room? Believe me, if you saw mine, you would sob with sympathy for me!!! When can I come over and do my laundry at you house?
Congrats on getting things just like you like!

It looks GREAT! You have inspired me to redo mine at some time in the near future. I would have never thought of lavendar, but it looks so clean and refreshing...likes it smells good!

Love it! A lot!

I've been busy myself cleaning out closets and organzing. One thing leads to another which leads to another.....

Hugs!

Oh!

Wow. That is 'takes my breath away' beautiful.

Just for fun, I should go snap a pic of my laundry room.

I do have a box of 'good intentions' floating around for a future time.., somewhere.., under the piles...

That laundry room belongs in a magazine. Srsly.

Our guestroom was lavender when I was little. It's a very restful color. Don't nod off while you're sorting clothes into those cool baskets.

Boy, did I need to read this post. My laundry room is my nemesis. I had such big plans for it. Husband even has one of those cabinets that has an ironing board in it -- uninstalled right now of course (my husband the builder!). You have given me major inspiration! Love that color. It is the color of my walk-in closet in my bedroom.
