Ladies, start your rollers!

Today we took the plunge and opened our first can of paint! One of the many things I'm enjoying about our house is that the interior has been painted in colors that are very neutral and liveable. The mainfloor is a soft beige, with the exception of the kitchen and family room, which are sage green. Green isn't my favorite color, but this is a shade I can live with.

However, the upstairs is all white. The previous owners just hadn't gotten around to decorating up there, which is fine with me, because it is soooo much fun starting with a clean palette. Kind of like having a brand new coloring book.

So, today Emily and I painted her bedroom. It was a good place to start, because she knows just what she wants. I was just eager to dip a paintbrush and get started painting something around here!

Here's what we started out with.

We painted two facing walls blue -- "Thoughtful Spot" blue to be exact. (ala Winney the Pooh. I just love that my 11 and a half year old girl is still okay with having a color named after the Pooh Bear.)

Then we added this yummy shade of pink. "Princess Power" pink to be exact.

We had some fun before getting down to business with the pink.

Oh, look! Freshly painted walls!

We still have lots of stuff to hang up on the walls, but here's what the room looks like so far.

Tomorrow, I'll take you on a tour of the kitchen:)

Oh - I love those two colors together - it looks great!
I'm so afraid to paint - choosing colors is just so overwhelming to me that I tend to leave everything the same all the time.

Such a girl's room! A friend of mine is building his own house and his youngest daughter has pink walls and pink carpet! He said he can hardly see once he goes in there it is so pink! lol

Lots of personality - there isnt a very big window of time that you can sleep in a bedroom with that palette, so I say go for it! Our new home has all white walls too - I cant wait to throw some mocha on a few of them.

It looks so good! I think it's great she knew what she wanted and that she helped with the job.

What fun, a paint party!! I am with you concerning the blank palette. Our place needs so much, but when it is done it will all be ours. We looked at so many places that people had "decorated" and kinda missed the mark. So paint away and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

Oh, how I wish I loved to paint! Or even liked it or wanted to do it, sigh. :) Her room looks wonderful, those two colors look great with her stuff, I bet she is loving her new room. Cute graffiti you guys had going there :)

I'll admit, I was skeptical when I first began reading that you were doing those two colors together, but that room looks awesome! Your daughter has great vision. :-)
