Taking a break

Today is a big day. We're having our home office re-carpeted and the puppy is gone ALL day (getting "fixed"). I don't know which I'm more excited about -- replacing 20 year old carpet, or not having pesky puppy at my heels all day. He's so cute, but SO energetic. Maybe today's procedure will slow him down? So, I'm working in my relocated office in our family room. My computer is still in pieces -- a laptop contains my office software and the kids' computer is my internet connection. And I'm without a printer/copier. It's challenging to say the least. Every time I reach for a file cabinet , it's not where it's supposed to be. Luckily, my neighbor has started working from her home a few days a week. She is without a fax machine and frequently comes over to use ours. I've been returning the favor today, using her copier. One other major distraction is a nesting pair of Swainson's hawks in our back yard. I love watching them through the binoculars, seeing closeup how the construction is going on their nursery. I know I should be working, but can't help wandering over to the window every so often to see the progress they're making. When I'm able to post pictures again, I'll share it with you. I swore they were red-tailed hawks (my apologies to my Dad, a lifetime card-carrying member of the Audobon Society. To my untrained eye, it could have been a bald eagle.) And, when I can post pictures again, I'll be sure to put one up from my lunch with Xandra last week! We got to meet when she came to Colorado for a visit with her cousin. It was so nice to meet my "cyber friend" in person. She's a sweetheart and even nicer in person than at Heart of Service, if that's possible:) Okay, I'm back to work (and birdwatching;)

Sounds like you've been really busy and will continue to do so:-) I'd rather be watching birds than doing any kind of work! lol Hope your office space is back to normal real soon:-) xox

I have a hard time concentrating on work when everything is not in it's place. I don't blame you for being distracted!

I had such a good visit with you Friday...can't wait to come up again!

Just wanted to say hi.......hi!

You have a nice way with words, has anyone ever told you that?

Thanks for your comments on my blog. Between what you and my brother said I do feel better about it, just a little anyway.

We had a hawk in our back yard Monday night while we ate on the deck. Pretty cool. Carpet sounds nice...lucky you. Even if you are planning to move.

Hey Karen!
I'm so bad about commenting anymore, but I was glad to get a visit from you! You sound busy as well.
Getting new carpet is something we need to do upstairs, but it's going to be a while. I'm green with envy!!! ;o)

New carpet, nice! I'd like to do that in some of our upstairs rooms...it does make it hard to function though when you have to be displaced. Hope everything went well.
Sounds like a fun visit!

I am so jealous of your bird watching ability! What cool birds to be able to watch. I just read your previous post and my first thought was, "she is nuts!!". You are going to be one busy mama but what wonderful things to be busy about! :) I am feeling the same busy-stress around here. End of the year concerts, talent shows, registering for new schools next year, and the ever popular baseball season for my boys has begun! Right now we have practice 4 nights a week, until 8 or 8:30--which is when we then have dinner!

I hope you get to slow down and enjoy the fun in the midst of all the planning and coordinating.

*smiles*
Kim

I know, I know...I'm saying it yet again...I'm playing "catch up" with my blog reading. It happens more often than I ever thought possible. But I'm not complaining though. My life is full and happy, so sometimes I get behind.

It's always fun to visit you.

Hugs!
Kat

Good for you having a built in expert, may I borrow him, lol. As to the puppy, good luck! They are a very high energy dog and I think you are stuck with that. Just work really hard on the training part and that will help. When all the kid stuff is over with and they have gone their seperate ways you will miss all this chaos. I never thought I would say that, but it is true. Best to you in all your endevors, Barbara

Karen, you guys may just look around at your house and say "Why move? We have a new house right here!"
I'll have to look up Swainson's hawks. I love to watch birds, but I don't know what I'm looking at most of the time. If it isn't a robin or a hummingbird, it's up for grabs.
The mention of hawks made me think of those old Warner Bros. cartoons featuring the little chicken hawk that kept trying to catch Foghorn Leghorn. Do you remember those?
Hey! I posted a picture of my grandma's teacher in the dress my great-grandmother made for him! Take a look when you have a minute.

I remember when Reilly went to get fixed. I felt so guilty, yet enjoyed to time off from having a puppy, yes, "at my heels all the time".

You must show the carpet.

I love carpets. We have hardwood. :(

Moving the office is quite a chore. One I keep avoiding.
Let me know how yours goes and maybe I will be motivated. LOL
