Got milk?

I'm still getting used to having one less kid around the house. For years, our standard order from the milkman has been 3 half-gallon bottles of 1% milk every Monday morning. During the week, I'll buy another gallon of milk at the store, and this will usually keep us in supply for the week. Although, there have been times when I thought it would just be easier to have a milk cow in the back yard.

I guess you can figure out who has been drinking all the milk around here. Nowadays, we're hard pressed to get through the three half-gallon bottles. I'm a little disappointed. I always thought it might be kinda fun to have a cow.

You still have milk delivery where you live? It's a thing of the past here - if they ever had it at all in Atlanta. I remember getting milk from the milkman when I was growing up. We used to have a little silver-colored box with a hinged top. Mom would leave the empty bottles in the box, with a note rolled up and stuck in the neck of a bottle if she wanted to change her order. Our milkman also left orange juice, butter and eggs. Glass bottles with a little paper top stuck in the neck of the bottle.

Now it's plastic gallon jugs from WalMart with a screw on top that never seems to go on straight.

I miss the old days.

How's Joe doing at school?

How cool! I wish we had delivery here. We used to a long time ago when I was a little girl.
Our milk consumption went down considerably when the older girls moved out. They both were huge milk drinkers, and still are. Only they're buying their own, now! ;o)
Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

That is so cool that you actaully have a milkman! We're still in the 1-2 gallons a week time in our lives, but like everything else, it will change.

Isn't it funny how the little things remind you of how our loves change?

How cool to have your milk delivered! I would start drinking milk if somebody would bring it every week - just for the fun of it! Does the milkman wear a white suit?

Very cool to still have a milkman bring your milk! Hubby grew up with that and he still wishes for it I think.
That is one of the hardest things for me to still adjust to, is cooking for less and less people! I still make way too much most times.

It reminds me of walking with your mother when we were kids getting milk from Percy Horner farms. He had two cows, milk cost 11 cents a quart and hallf was cream.

Wow, they still deliver milk? I've never actually seen that with my own eyes! Those bottles are way cool. :) We drink a ton of milk, for just two people. I currently pay 4.07 a gallon for skim milk, which I think is awful. Gotta have our milk though!

Oh my gosh, that cow is CUTE, Karen. LOL

I know what you mean. Seems like you go from never having enough milk to watching it spoil because no one's drinking it, almost overnight.

Just think. If we had a cute cow like that, our milk could stay in the perfect container until we need it. Right?
