Go Rockies!

Wow! It's official! The Rockies are goin' to the Show. Most of America was sound asleep when the game ended last night at 12:30 a.m. But for Denver it was one of THE most exciting games we've seen -- for me, second only to the opening home game the year the Rockies started in Denver back in '93.
It will be a night to remember -- cheering and towel-swirling and broom sweeping with the best of them. Fans high-fiving each other and hugging like they were buddies watching the game in someone's living room, instead of complete strangers in a ball park with 50,000 plus people. SO cool to see Matt Holliday's home run. SO sweet to see Eric Byrnes put out at first base by the Tulowitzki/Helton connection for the final out, winning the game. What's that Eric?? You said the Rockies just got lucky those first two games??? Ha! Don't think so! The Rockies will go down in the post season record books for having swept Philly in 3 games and then Arizona in 4 to clench the National League Championship Series. And they did it with a team that has, for the most part, been groomed in Denver. That's what makes it so sweet, seeing these guys reach their potential right here in town, in an industry where there's so much trading around that it's hard to feel a connection to most of the players. It's been exciting to see them come into their own.
So, it's on to the World Series next week to face either Boston or Cleveland. Until then, Denver is painting the town purple! Woo -woo!, swinging the towel and waving a broom.

I am so excited because you are the first to at least email me and respond! Exciting...hey, Barry has a new CD coming out today...called Barry Manilow, Hits of the 70's and my husband is bringing it home to me so I am so looking forward to that . All these great 70 hits I love, sung by Barry.

Karen - Go Rockies! I'm really excited that they're in the Series. I don't think any team has won all of the post-season games - maybe this year?? 7 down, 4 to go!

WooHoo! Way to go for your Rockies. I am excited for you. I was the only one in my family to watch the Cardinals in the series last year.

We are watching the Boston/Cleveland game now. And I can tell you, no matter who wins, we'll be rooting for your Rockies.

Becky sent me over - I don't think our paths have ever crossed. I'm not a baseball fan, as I described in my Not So Wordless Wednesday post tonight, but even I am excited about the Rockies going to the Series. Wow. I remember the first game - the guys I was working with at a temp job were all playing hooky that day. Seems like not that long ago!

Congratulations! I remember living in Kansas City when the series was between the Royals and the Cardinals - I can't even begin to tell you the excitement!
I will root for the Rockies too! I don't really follow baseball anymore but it will be fun to root with YOU!
I am having fun learning about football and rooting for our hometown college team this year. My family can't quite figure out what is going on with me - since I have never been much of a sports fan. It's always good to keep them guessing!

How EXCITING!!! I bet you guys are on cloud nine. I am a fair weather fan of our Mariners. When they go that far I jump on the bandwagon and it is truly an exciting ride--enjoy yours!!!

As a side note---thanks for the lovely comment on my wordless Wednesday post. I look forward to Wednesday all week so I can pick out a picture. I have not always enjoyed taking pictures, but ever since we got a digital camera, it is a whole different story. I think being able to see the picture right away and then being able to get such immediate printing done that makes it so much fun for me.

I have also really been enjoying Fall in the northwest this year--maybe it is just my age catching up with me?

*smiles*

You know that you are addicted to blogging (and reading the blogs of other people) when you hear the news that a team in Colorado is going to the World Series, and your first thought is, "I'll bet Karen is beside herself!"

LOL! My cousin lives in Denver too, and she is very excited!
